BrainMatch Advisor: John Fandel John Fandel, DEPlabs

As Principle of DEPlabs, John Fandel has over 20 years in executive management of high growth technology and management consulting companies. He is a results-driven leader with a proven track record building flexible, scalable and sustainable business operations focused in the e-commerce, technology and financial services markets. His experience in leveraging and optimizing organizational resource – people/talent, business processes and systems – to provide the operational efficiencies required to successfully deliver profitable, high-value business solutions for complex public and private organizations is critical to the success of our client sponsored initiatives.

Before joining DEPlabs, John was the Executive Vice President Business Solutions and a Managing Partner for Hinchcliffe & Company, a 2.0 strategy services firm focused on Fortune 500 and early-stage web/enterprise 2.0 solution companies.

More recently, he was an EVP and General Manager of Corporate Solutions for O’Reilly Media, Inc., a prominent technology publishing and events production company. Prior to O’Reilly, served as Sr. Executive and COO with MarketLive, Inc., a leading enterprise ecommerce software and solution provider. Before joining MarketLive, he held senior management roles in the business consulting industry.

John is also an active board member and advisor to several web-based startup and early-stage companies, providing strategic and operational guidance.

John holds a BS Degree in Accounting from San Francisco State University and has completed Graduate Studies in Information Technology at San Francisco State University.

BrainMatch Advisor: Sherry Lowry Sherry Lowry, Master Certified Coach

Sherry Lowry, MCC, is a lifetime serial entrepreneur. For the most recent seventeen years, she has delighted in taking the best learnings forward from six previous business focuses to include in her services as a full time, professional business mentor and a collaboration and alliance coach.

Sherry has worked with mentors of entire industries, as well as with hundreds of corporate and organizational leaders, teams, and individual, entrepreneurial owners and/or privately with other C-Level executives. She has been well prepared for this set of endeavors as this is actually her seventh business within seven different industries over four decades.

Her educational background includes over one-thousand hours of internship during completion of two advanced academic degrees. Sherry Lowry’s coaching-specific background is extensive. Highlights include graduation from Coach University; Therapist University and Institute for Life-Coach Training (ILCT).

Sherry is active in community service, participating on 15 community-related non-profit and corporate boards over 4 decades. This includes serving 3 terms on her own industry’s International Coach Federation Board and Ethics and Standards of Conduct Committee for coaching as this organization grew from 250 to a 11,000 global membership, which now is up to 16,000. She currently serves on ICF’s Credentials Review Committee involving her in candidate examination processes at all individual and program levels. She also carries this organization’s highest granted credential of Master Certified Coach (MCC.)

BrainMatch Advisor: John Jackson John Jackson, Dell

John has just recently been appointed the Program Strategist/Manager of the Data Center Solutions division of Dell. His main responsibilities include team building, strategic direction, customer experience, and service delivery.

Prior to accepting this role, John was the Director of Operations for IE Discovery, where he was responsible for the day to day execution of client services including forensics, discovery, collection, coding, processing, E-Discovery, data analysis, production, and Document Review. In addition to execution of E-Discovery services, John’s teams were responsible for the ongoing process improvements in capacity, process, technology, and vendor management.

John graduated from the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland with a degree in Aerospace Engineering. As a Naval Officer, he served as an officer on fast-attack submarines and provided intelligence and analytical support, as well as leadership to the Naval Space Command.

After leaving the service, John joined Dell for the first time, as a Program Manager in R&D and Services. In that role, he led large project teams and initiatives focusing on product development, process improvement, and operational execution. During this time, John completed his Masters of Science in Telecommunications at Southern Methodist University. John also carries the Project Management Professional (PMP), and Certified Information Systems Security Professional certifications (CISSP) titles.

His next transition was to Lucent Technologies in Washington D.C., where John leveraged his civilian and military background to manage government contracts and initiatives, including proposal, capture, and post-award support for the Department of Defense and Intelligence communities. With exposure to multiple levels of management, John brings a distinctive style with him wherever he goes.

BrainMatch Advisor: Ginny Murphy Ginny Murphy, Advantage Graphics

Ginny Murphy is the founder of Advantage Graphics, an Austin-based, full-service design studio providing clients with a broad range of services. She creates effective, innovative and dynamic organizational and marketing programs that stand out from the clutter. With an expertise in identity and branding, Ginny works with clients to define what differentiates them and then assists in implementing programs that increase brand awareness and more importantly, create brand loyalty. She works with clients to develop a brand proposition that when conveyed in marketing and advertising campaigns, provides an attractive, unique, and relevant message to current and potential customers.

As the founder and creative force behind the company, Ginny Murphy has over twenty-five years experience in all areas of Communications including public, employee, community and investor relations. Her work has garnered numerous awards and recognitions. Her ability to design and implement projects – start to finish – and deliver them on time and in budget is her strength. Nurturing strong client relationships has also been a key ingredient to the company’s overall success.

Ginny spent a portion of her professional career as Corporate Communications Manager at Entex (a division of Arkla Inc.) in Houston, Texas where she worked directly with top-level management and was responsible for the implementation of media, investor and public relations, community affairs and employee communications projects. In addition, she assisted in preparation of analyst presentations for the Initial Public Offering (IPO) of Arkla Exploration on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).

Prior to founding Advantage Graphics in 1981, Ginny honed her skills at a variety of West Coast agencies, including Burridge & Doty and Stephen Pinsker & Associates of Santa Barbara and J.T. International of Los Angeles. A native of New York, Ginny is a graduate of the University of California at Santa Barbara.

Currently, Ginny is working on the launch of a new branding development firm called Rapport Branding LLC which is targeted to the green, renewable and clean tech industries.
